Within the responsible business conduct context, there are a number of expectations from companies and the government—derived from the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human rights—which are, for many reasons, complex to implement in practice. This page features such topics that are cross-cutting in the role they play in the implementation of rights based due diligence.
These themes apply across all sectors and are critical for operationalising the corporate responsibility to respect human rights and the State’s responsibility to protect these rights. The themes have particularly been selected due to the fact that there is a growing need for guidance for companies and other stakeholders on how these expectations must be applied in practice.
The pages on this website with the featured themes, aim to provide clarity about the nature of the expectations and to share examples of how they have been put into effect in practice.
