CNV international publishes video on freedom of assiociation
Freedom of Association is one of the key themes within the Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile. Participating brands commit to respect freedom of association and social dialogue in their international supply chains, as it is a fundamental right of workers and a fundamental human right to organize in a trade union.
Labour union CNV produced a new video on freedom of association in the garment sector. The video shows Sabrina garment factory, a production facility in Cambodia where production management and trade union leaders are working together to improve labour conditions. Which is beneficial for both management, as well as workers.
Under the agreement, parties such as CNV international are committed to give guidance to brands on how to reduce human rights risks in their supply chain. CVN international has developed a handy checklist with questions that representatives of brands can ask to get a better understanding of how union freedom is practiced. These questions can be asked to management, employees, as well as trade union representatives. Find the online version of the questionnaire here. The questionnaire is also hard copy available on credit card format for use during supplier visits.
