Raak Metals is a recycler of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The company specialises in the collection and processing of metal waste, as well as the (on-site) disassembly and recycling of transformers, switch boxes, cast iron, ground cables and related products for companies in the energy and utility sector. Raak Metals has branches in Tilburg, Breda, Elst, Roosendaal and Best.

The recycling of these secondary materials can reduce the demand for and extraction of raw materials, reducing the pressure on mines. At the same time, it is known that a large part of European scrap metals is exported to countries outside Europe. In these countries, there are risks of violations of human rights and environmental standards. Therefore, improvements still need to be made in the recycling chain.

Raak Metals works on the efficient and responsible collection and processing of scrap metals and aims to be a leader in the field of corporate social responsibility. The company has therefore decided to join the International RBC Agreement for the Metals Sector. By signing the agreement, Raak Metals commits to taking responsibility for its supply chains and to identify and reduce potential negative impacts on people and the environment.

Will van Aerle, CFO Raak Metals Groep: “The Netherlands can use its international position to make a difference and ensure that more metal waste is reused for the manufacture of new products. By participating in the agreement, we want to ensure that this is done in a responsible manner. In addition, we want to contribute to help achieve the objectives of the agreement by making our years of experience and international network available.”

The current parties welcome Raak Metals Groep to the agreement and look forward to a fruitful cooperation.
