House Committee learns about IRBC

On 30 November 2016, a delegation headed by SER president Mariëtte Hamer visited the House Committee on Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. The purpose of the visit was to explain the agreements on International Responsible Business Conduct (IRBC) that had recently been concluded in the banking industry and the garments and textile sector, and to update the committee about IRBC negotiations in various other sectors.

Praise for agreements concluded so far

The House committee, represented by MPs Jan Vos, Roelof van Laar, Mustafa Amhaouch, Fred Teeven and Joël Voordewind, praised the delegation for the agreements thus far concluded. They also asked a number of questions. Besides Mariëtte Hamer, the delegation consisted of Alexandra van Selm (SER), Bas Rüter (banking industry), Jeroen van Dijken (garment and textile sector), Farah Karimi (Oxfam Novib, PAX and Amnesty), Gerard Oonk (India Committee of the Netherlands) and Vivian Vaessen (trade unions).
