Fairphone’s mission is to revolutionise the electronics industry by proving that superior design, a great human-centred experience, social responsibility, and environmental care can and should coexist. Therefore, Fairphone brings a lot of valuable experience to the parties of the RBC Agreement with regard to the impact projects and learning sessions on due diligence and meaningful stakeholder dialogue. These sessions will start soon, at the start of year 2 of the Agreement.
Chief Impact Officer & Operating Officer, Monique Lempers, explains why Fairphone believes the RBC Agreement is essential for a successful road to responsible supply chains:
"Lasting impact in complex supply chains cannot happen in isolation. It demands collective action right where materials are sourced and processed. Partnering through this multistakeholder Agreement enables Fairphone to join efforts on vital worker-rights programs in critical mineral hubs like Indonesia. We are eager to collaborate with partners on the ground, learn alongside NGO and government leaders, and help the broader industry raise the bar for a fairer, greener sector."
About the Metals Agreement
The Metals Agreement supports companies to actively contribute to better labour and environmental conditions in the international metal sector, covering all metals and the entire international metals value chain, including metals processing companies and end-users. After a successful first term, the Agreement has kicked off a second term at the end of 2025, aiming to improve the visibility of the entire value chain in relation to human rights and environmental impact, maximise the collective leverage of its participants, and set up collective projects that make a positive contribution to people and the environment.
