IRBC Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector hosts successful due diligence training

The IRBC Agreement for the Renewable Energy Sector recently concluded a successful two-day due diligence training, organised by Agreement parties Holland Solar and CNV Internationaal, with the support of the independent Secretariat. The event brought together 20 representatives from participating companies, equipping them with practical expertise to implement due diligence processes effectively.

Over the course of the programme, participants received training on the core principles of Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), relevant sustainability legislation, and key international frameworks, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, the sessions combined essential theoretical background with practical application. Attendees explored the OECD’s six due diligence steps, identified common sustainability risks in value chains, and learned to apply concrete tools within their organisations. The training also helped companies prepare for current and forthcoming EU regulations, including the Forced Labour Regulation, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).

One of the central messages of the training was the importance of collaboration. Working closely with partners is vital for tackling sector-wide challenges and promoting responsible business practices. The organisers expressed confidence that the knowledge gained—enhanced by peer learning and the exchange of practical cases—will enable participants to drive positive change within their companies and across the renewable energy value chain.
