In the IRBC Agreement, wind and solar energy companies, industry associations, trade unions, civil society organisations, knowledge institutions and the Dutch government work together with the aim of promoting international responsible business conduct (IRBC) in the renewable energy sector. This is done by jointly identifying human rights, environmental and biodiversity risks in the value chain and taking action to address them, for example through collective projects.

Stedin Group

Stedin Group is one of the three regional grid operators in the Netherlands, ensuring a reliable energy supply for more than 7 million households. As a key player in the energy transition, Stedin’s responsibility goes beyond building and maintaining infrastructure. Sustainable and responsible business practices are deeply embedded in its mission, shaping how the company operates every day.

By joining the IRBC Agreement, Stedin Group strengthens its commitment to transparency, fair working conditions, and sustainable sourcing across the entire value chain. This step reflects Stedin’s proactive approach to addressing human rights and environmental risks in collaboration with companies, NGOs, trade unions, and governments. Together, we aim to create a value chain that is ethical and transparent.

“The energy transition demands both collaboration and responsibility. By joining the IRBC Agreement, we take a significant step toward building a value chain that is not only reliable but also responsible,” says Lance Cosaert, Program manager ESG at Stedin Group.
